Aritzia Mobile App Design

Aritizia, a popular women’s clothing brand, does not currently have a mobile application. When users try to access Aritzia’s website on their mobile device through a browser, the experience is far from seamless, so there was a clear opportunity to enhance the user experience and access a wider customer base.

Color Audit

Initially, I did not plan to change much at all about the website’s aesthetic to keep the mobile application familiar. However, as I progressed through this project, it became more apparent that the existing colors are quite bland and don’t add any dimension to the site.

New Color Palette

I created a new color palette since the existing palette does not bring much dimension to the website. Interestingly, Aritzia’s retail locations don’t adhere to this same strict color palette. Their stores mainly consist of earth tones which aren’t reflected on their website. I decided to incorporate tones I found in photos of the store to my application to make it more visually interesting and familiar.

Moodboard

In order to decide what the app should look like, I created a moodboard to serve as my inspiration for the application. I mainly drew from the colors in the retail locations to determine the color palette for the app. I tried to incorporate shapes and textures from the stores into the application to keep the integrity of the brand to bring a sense of familiarity yet uniqueness to the application.

Typography

Before finding Aritizia’s copycat font, I explored a few different fonts I thought would fit the brand’s aesthetic well. The website only uses a logo and paragraph font, but each brand they carry uses a different font for their logos and promotional material.

Final Screens

Conclusion

The need for this application was and still is evident, and my redesign serves as a vessel for what that might look like. By focusing on creating a user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing interface, I enhanced the overall user experience and increased ease of use on a mobile device. The incorporation of a new but sensible color palette and other familiar brand elements keeps the brand’s integrity intact.

Going forward, I would love to conduct user tests on this application and continue to iterate on the application, expanding the screens to cover more than just the experiences I currently have prototyped.
